Read

Its been a slow couple of months in terms of reading. Whilst I’d usually fly through a number of books in the summer – I haven’t really had time nor the inclination to rush my reading of late. Having completed all of Elsie Silver’s cowboy-themed romance books. I’ve most recently been reading Jessica Peterson’s ‘Cash’. So far it’s been a really good read and I’m enjoying ‘escaping to the ranch’ of an evening.

Watched

My daughter and I are both big fans of Florence & The Machine and recently enjoyed watching her play live on the BBC from Reading Festival. Dressed in what can only be described as the most wonderful, witchy dress, Florence rocked that stage with a seriously ethereal, eccentric, and exceptional set.

Heard

After spending too long on Tik Tok falling down various rabbit holes, I’ve recently been listening to Hugel’s ‘Movin To The Sun‘ – it’s a banger of a tune and if you haven’t heard it yet, where have you been?!

Made

Our darling daughter transformed into a teenager earlier this month and to celebrate, we made her a triple-tiered ‘Heartstopper’ themed chocolate cake decorated with books, leaves, flowers, and of course, the obligatory candles.

Wore

Following what felt like a never-ending heatwave, summer took a bit of a nose dive and the temperatures plummeted. I’ve therefore switched from summer dresses to sweaters and jeans. However, the big win for this month is that I am finally able to wear my ‘over ear’ headphones once again as my industrial piercing seems to be settling a little.

My Top Three Moments From The Month Gone By
  1. August saw the UK experience a stunning solar eclipse and whilst it may have only lasted for twenty minutes or so ,it was quite simply INCREDIBLE.
  2. To celebrate my daughter’s thirteenth birthday, we went out to a local restaurant for steak, we then decorated the house and enjoyed a day at home with family and friends as she opened her parcels and had a hot tub party with a good friend.
  3. I spent the start of this month soaking up the summer sunshine whilst lazing on a lounger in sunny Spain. Following that I was then planning for my daughters birthday and thinking ahead to the dreaded ‘school return’. However midway through August I was then taken down once again by yet another flare up and so was back and forth on the phone to the GP whilst stuck in my bed trying to recover and recuperate. It’s become a regular issue which is really starting to get me down. On the plus side however, due to the dietary changes I’ve somehow managed to loose several stone in weight and am now far below my target from last year. As a result, I’m now in the process of updating my wardrobe with size 10 clothing.
